Faster, sharper ad images — and they finally come back the right shape
Campaign images now render in about a third of the time, at the exact proportions you asked for, and follow the do's and don'ts in your brand kit.
What this solves
Whichever size you picked, the image came back as one of three fixed shapes. A 1200×628 Facebook link ad was generated as a 3:2 rectangle instead of the 1.91:1 banner the placement needs, so the composition was framed for a shape the ad slot never uses. Four of the five sizes were affected.
The other problem was the wait: a single image regularly took over a minute.
What changed
A new default engine. GPT Image 2.5 Flare replaces Nano Banana 2 as the default. In our testing it produced an image in about 9 seconds where the previous OpenAI engine took 30 — three times faster, at a lower cost. GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst is there for detailed scenes and precise text, and every engine you used before is still in the list.
Images match the size you choose. Each size now renders at its own proportions and at a higher resolution — a 1200×1200 square is generated as a true 1200×1200, not scaled up from something smaller.
Your brand's visual rules reach the image. If your brand kit records art direction — "never use busy patterns or gradients", "photography of real skin and products is preferred" — those rules are now given to the image engine as hard constraints, along with your full colour palette and your real brand fonts.
A credit estimate you can trust. The panel used to show a flat "5 credits" for every engine. It now shows a realistic estimate for the engine you picked, marked with a "~", because the true cost depends on the engine, the image size and whether the image needed a correction pass.
Where to find it
Campaigns → open any creative → the image panel, under Settings.
Useful for
Anyone producing paid social or display creative across several placements at once — a story, a square feed post and a wide banner now each come back correctly framed, instead of needing a crop.
