v.1.589
Finding competitors keeps running while you work elsewhere
Starting a competitor search and then moving to another screen no longer hides that it is running — or lets you start the same search twice.
Competitors
What this solves
- A competitor search takes about half a minute. Only the Competitors screen knew it was running, so leaving that screen and coming back showed the button ready to click again, with nothing to say a search was already under way.
- Clicking it again started a second search of the same market at the same time. Both wrote into the same list, and neither one told you about the other.
- The same thing happened when a search you started landed on top of the one that runs automatically after you set up your company.
What changed
- A company runs one competitor search at a time. Anything that asks for a second one while the first is still going is told a search is already running instead of starting another.
- The Competitors screen now knows a search is in progress wherever it was started from — another screen, another browser tab, or your first setup — and keeps the button showing "Finding competitors…" until the results arrive.
- The search appears in the progress indicator at the top of the app, so you can see it running from anywhere and carry on with something else.
- Results appear on the Competitors screen as soon as the search finishes, with no refresh, even if you were elsewhere while it ran.
- A search that stops unexpectedly releases its place within a few minutes, so you are never locked out of trying again.
Where to find it
Competitors → "Find competitors" on an empty list, or "Add competitors" → "Search competitors" once you have some.
Useful for
Anyone building their competitor list, and anyone who starts a search and then gets on with other work.
