Make a picture out of what already worked
Point a Creatives brief at the ads that performed, the trends being written about, or what your own numbers say — and what you point at genuinely reaches the picture.
What this solves
Attaching something to a brief looked like it worked and mostly did not. Only an uploaded picture and a saved moodboard item ever made it through, so "make one like this" quietly became "make one".
What changed
- Everything you attach reaches the picture. A rival's ad brings its layout and headline; a campaign brings what it is saying; a date brings what is planned for it. - Ads that worked. A new door on the Create screen, and `@` in the composer: your own ads that performed, each showing its click-through rate, reach and cost. Only ads with a real audience behind them are offered. - Trends. The articles tracked for your market, strongest first. A trend gives the picture an argument; the article itself is never pictured. - Your numbers. One takeaway from a period as the point a creative makes, always described as the company's number rather than that picture's result. - Rivals' ads read better. LinkedIn ads publish no start date, so each one now shows and is ordered by the audience size LinkedIn reports, not by when we found it. - Ask for it in a sentence. "Make one based on our best ad" — the assistant finds it and attaches it rather than mentioning it in passing. - You can see what you attached. A picture you upload appears as itself while it is still uploading, instead of as a file name, and the one you added last is no longer pushed out. - A reference is followed, not glanced at. What a saved ad shows, and the device it works by — a subject obscured, a split screen, a before and after — now reaches the picture. - And when something cannot be used, it says so. A clip, or a photo in an unreadable format, is kept with the brief and labelled as something that will not be looked at.
Where to find it
Creatives → Create: the doors under the box, or `@` while writing.
Useful for
Anyone with an ad that worked who wants more like it, and anyone who attached a competitor's ad and wondered why the result looked nothing like it.
